I was brought up in Porth, Rhondda and attended Porth Grammar School before gaining a Law Degree at the University of Wales in Cardiff. I joined the firm in 1983 with its then sole principal Lyn Devonald as an assistant solicitor.
I am one of the founding members of the Law Society Children’s Panel established in 1986. I represent the interest of parents, grandparents, foster carers and Local Authorities but I specialise in particular in cases where I represent children either directly or via their Children’s Guardian at CAFCASS.
I am a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children, The British Association for Adoption and Fostering and the Grandparents Association and indeed I am particularly keen to promote the interest of grandparents and their representation in public law proceedings.
Most of my work does emanate from personal recommendation from existing lay and professional clients or other solicitors.
In my younger days I was a keen footballer and squash player but still remain active with particular interest in cycling, mountain walking and swimming.
I have particular interest in promoting the Firm’s support to many and varied charitable causes. I am an appointed Ambassador for Velindre Cancer Centre and together with my wife and son am Trustee of my late daughter Rhian’s Charity, The Forget Me Not Fund which is held at Velindre. I am also Ambassador for MacMillan Cancer Support and am the appointed welsh member of the UK Volunteer Forum based in London. I also chair the Welsh Section of that Forum based in Cardiff.
I am also Chair of the Pontypridd Contact Centre, a recognised Charity in support of promoting contact between parents and their children operated completely by volunteers.
